Start with a wide range of functions (docks my iPod, receives Digital Audio Broadcasts and FM radio, is Wi-FI capable). Then add a smart, retro, minimalist sensibility to the product's exterior. And create a series of intuitive menus that are controlled by a satisfying little joystick controller (perfect for bleary eyes in the morning).

Finally, add some beautifully grained American walnut panels to either end.
